Database Administration Expert Required

Job Title: Database Administrator - DMSII

 

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and administering DMSII databases to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and data integrity.

  • Perform comprehensive database setup and maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor database metrics, such as space utilization, availability, and performance on Unisys mainframes.
  • Expertly manage sets, subsets, and indexes to facilitate efficient data access.
  • Execute secure backup and recovery procedures, including journaling and roll-forward recovery.
  • Support schema modifications and perform database reorganization as required.
  • Collaborate with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with established backup policies.
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures, audit trails, and user access controls.

 

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Proficiency in DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery techniques.
  • Expertise in performance tuning and troubleshooting complex database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration protocols.
  • Understanding of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
