Job Summary


We are seeking a seasoned technology leader to drive our technology vision and strategy at Rao Career Solutions. As the Head of Engineering and Architecture, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our products and systems that support global brokerage, payments, wealth management, account management, billing, onboarding, content, and custodian services.


Our products include global equities, options, futures, fixed income, structured products, currency, banking networks, custodian network, customer identification network, cloud services, money market and mutual funds, UCITS, banking accounts, and more. Every product we build is for external use by clients and affiliated entities.


As a technology leader, you will be responsible for defining, architecting, and executing the organizational plan required to fulfill the company's and its client's business and technology strategies. This includes recruiting, developing, managing, and scaling a talented technology team committed to developing innovative solutions aligned with the company's business model, values, and vision.


You will create a strong internal culture to manage technology projects with accurate time estimates, adherence to deadlines, and strong communication with stakeholders. You will also advise and make executive decisions on behalf of the company's technological requirements. Additionally, you will supervise all functional areas of technology including software design and development, enterprise architecture, quality assurance/testing, scalability, UIT and product operations and technical support, network and systems administration, and information security management.


The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of highly transactional, large relational, and complex systems. You will have experience in building and running distributed systems for 24x7 online services at scale. You will also have knowledge of Object-Oriented Design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.


Key Responsibilities



  2. Design and implement technology information security, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  3. Work in partnership with teams and business and technology leaders in the United States, Europe, Asia, and India.
  4. Stay on the leading edge of technology.
  5. Oversee architecture and design of technically robust, flexible, and scalable solutions.
  6. Become an expert in the business of our Firm and our clients.
  7. Participate in strategic decisions of the firm and our clients, including advising our clients' technology and business leaders, participating as a member of our Firm's leadership team, helping our Firm to win new business and expand our reach into our client's enterprise solution needs.
  8. Conceptualize, lead, and deliver new initiatives for global locations and markets.
  9. Set up best practices for development and champion their adoption.
  10. Be a champion of engineering excellence: establish team metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence. Implement a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement.

Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field or learning through doing, in either case with success in developing and deployment of successful technology applications and services.
  • 15+ years of work experience in software development with at least 8+ years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in taking on challenges with a drive for learning and team success.
  • Success in developing and deploying full-stack commercial solutions.
  • Experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with building search, recommendation systems, production-grade machine learning systems, or other data-driven products or systems with advanced algorithms is a plus.
  • Experience in building and running distributed systems for 24x7 online services at scale.
  • Deep understanding and expertise with highly transactional, large relational, and complex systems.
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.
  • Ability to articulate complex subjects in simple terms to drive team toward completion of the project.
  • Experience in defining and executing professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Desired experience with Go, PHP (Laravel), NodeJS.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Groovy, C#, NodeJS, PL/SQL.
  • Hands-on experience working with CI/CD tools such as Git/SVN, Gradle/Maven, Jenkins to create, maintain, and guide deployment flows.
  • Hands-on experience with databases and queues: MS SQL, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis (as cache/database/queue), MongoDB, Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS/MessageBus/etc.
  • Deep conceptual knowledge of real-time data transfer, large dataset manipulation, data-at-rest vs. data-flow.
  • Conceptual and practical understanding of AWS, Azure with containerization and execution with VM or Kubernetes. Full knowledge of practical applications of load-balancers, failover, uptime concepts.
  • Experience with Networking/Firewall is a plus.
