Vehicle Durability Specialist

The goal of this role is to develop comprehensive models to assess vehicle durability, focusing on fatigue life, vibration resistance, and load-bearing capacity for entire vehicle systems under diverse operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed simulation models to evaluate vehicle durability, focusing on fatigue life, vibration resistance, and load-bearing capacity for entire vehicle systems under diverse operating conditions.
  • Perform road load data analysis to determine component and system damage levels. Use this data to enhance structural design and optimize vehicle durability.
  • Correlate load data with CAE fatigue predictions to establish accurate cyclic load and damage predictions and simulate real-world operating conditions.
  • Optimize complete vehicle durability by assessing structural load paths, material fatigue thresholds, and road load transfer mechanisms for components such as chassis, suspension, body structures, and powertrain mounts.
  • Develop and implement durability test plans, block-cycles, for specific vehicle components and systems, including frame, suspension, body structures, and key load-bearing components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer durability requirements.
  • Sign-off virtual performance based on simulation models, with clear documentation of results and recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients for requirement gathering and regular project updates.
  • Be a team player, and work well with a diverse team which may be spread all over the world through strong and clear communication.
  • Research on how to implement various requirements and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Take active part in weekly review meetings and put forth ideas or solutions to problems.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in creating detailed simulation models for Endurance Testing, Fatigue Analysis and Vibration Analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of multi-body dynamics and effects of vibration, materials interaction etc. on fatigue and durability.
  • Experience in performing road load data analysis as well as correlating load data with simulation predictions.
  • Hands-on experience in using NCode, NASTRAN, ANSA or Abaqus (one or two of these are expected, not all.)
  • Sound fundamental knowledge of engineering principals.

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Experience in optimizing vehicle durability
  • Experience in developing and implementing durability test plans or block cycles for vehicle subsystems or components.
