Job Opportunity: Platform Engineer Manager

Our teams build and maintain critical platforms for Coinbase's existence. We aim to develop a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates with speed, efficiency, and quality.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on architecture & development of the platform for all LLM use-cases in conjunction with leading a team of ICs
  • Provide technical guidance to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using technical expertise
  • Form a deep understanding of our Machine Learning Engineers' needs and current capabilities and gaps
  • Mentor junior engineers on high-quality software development and help them advance their skills
  • Continually raise engineering standards to maintain high-availability and low-latency for ML inference infrastructure
  • Optimize streaming pipelines to provide fresh and high-quality data for ML models
  • Educate others on best practices for building high-performance distributed training jobs
  • Develop tooling to monitor data quality and detect degradations impacting model performance

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • At least 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • Experience in designing, building, and scaling production applications and hands-on leadership of a team of highly competent engineers
  • Upleveling junior engineers via processes and setting a high bar for them to follow
  • Knowledge of high-quality code — and software engineering processes — and fostering an environment that creates them
  • Deep customer empathy for primary customer stakeholders
  • Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working through rapid growth in your company
  • Proficiency in Golang, Docker, Postgres, MongoDB or DynamoDB
  • Background in working in AI/LLM models
