The Role of Senior Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Risk Management Planning: Develop a risk-based annual audit plan in consultation with senior management, based on business priorities and risk assessment.
  • Vendor Identification and Validation: Identify and finalize vendors for program activities execution after thorough validation.
  • Audit Execution and Reporting: Lead the execution of the Internal Audit Plan (in-house or outsourced) ensuring timely completion and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Functional Audits and Compliance: Lead functional audits (in-house or outsourced) as per the annual plan approved by the audit committee to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Status Tracking and Open Issues: Monitor and report open Internal Audit observations to stakeholders every month.
  • Follow-up Audits and Remediation: Conduct follow-up audits to assess management remediation effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Audit Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and maintain Internal Audit Standard Operating Procedures for efficient and effective execution of audit tasks.
  • Audit Tools and Templates: Create a repository of audit programs, checklists, templates, and tools for standardization and easy access.
  • Risk Management Collaboration: Partner with Risk Management to identify and assess entity and functional level risks, and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Emerging Risks and Opportunities: Provide input to the risk identification and assessment program for emerging risks and opportunities, and develop plans for their mitigation or exploitation.

Educational Qualifications & Experience

Essential Education: Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional qualification.

Desired Education: CIA, CISA, CWA, or other relevant certifications.

A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in implementing, delivering, and embedding risk management at strategic and operational levels. Proven experience undertaking audits across diverse areas of the organization, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface and influence all levels of management.

Knowledge and Specific Skills

Well-equipped with knowledge/skills in corporate governance, internal audit & risk management domains, including expertise in risk assessment, auditing, and control.
