Financial Controls Specialist Role Overview

The role of a Financial Controls Specialist encompasses the oversight and management of internal financial controls across various business functions.

  1. Main Responsibilities:

  2. Develop and implement comprehensive financial control frameworks for finance and accounting departments, as well as other business units. This includes creating policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk management.

  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date DOA matrices in SAP, which are critical components of internal control systems. Ensure seamless integration with existing processes and systems to guarantee optimal performance.

  4. Provide support in preparing reports on IFC compliance for presentation to the audit committee or board. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and identify areas for improvement.

  5. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  6. Analyze data and provide insights to inform strategic decisions related to financial controls and risk management.

  7. Stay up-to-date with industry developments, regulatory requirements, and best practices in internal control systems. Apply this knowledge to continuously improve financial controls and mitigate risks.

  8. Cultivate strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and external partners to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in tools like SAP and other relevant software applications.
  • Deep understanding of internal controls, auditing principles, and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial controls, risk management, or a related field.
