Compliance Manager Role

About the Position:

This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable statutory and regulatory labour laws, including those specific to the financial services industry.

The position involves end-to-end execution, documentation, governance, vendor coordination, audits, and proactive process improvement across HR compliance activities at the entity and group levels.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Ensuring timely compliance with all applicable labour laws: EPF, ESIC, PT, LWF, CLRA, S&E Acts, ID Act, Gratuity Act, etc.
  • Overseeing state-wise compliance requirements and filings across locations.
  • Conducting onboarding checks for statutory forms and declarations.
  • Addressing and resolving employee PF-related queries in coordination with vendors and regional offices.
  • Ensuring real-time tracking and closure of compliance deliverables using a compliance tracking system.

Sector-Specific Compliance (Financial Services):

  • Interpreting and implementing HR compliance guidelines issued by IRDAI, RBI, SEBI.
  • Maintaining awareness of new and changing regulatory mandates affecting HR operations and workforce governance.
  • Ensuring documentation and records are maintained as per the requirements of sector regulators.

Documentation, Inspections & Governance:

  • Maintaining statutory registers, compliance folders, and inspection records.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal, external, and regulatory audits for HR data, PI data, and vendor data.
  • Ensuring state-wise minimum wages audit, and holiday calendar review and publishing.

Regulatory Liaison & Risk Mitigation:

  • Coordinating with regional PF, ESIC, PT, and LWF offices for issue resolution and documentation requirements.
  • Handling labour inspections and responding to regulatory notices in collaboration with Legal and Admin teams.
  • Escalating potential compliance lapses and supporting corrective actions.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Working closely with Legal, Admin, Finance, HRBPs, and external vendors to ensure seamless compliance execution.
  • Translating compliance requirements into SOPs and workflows in consultation with internal stakeholders.

Projects & Process Improvements:

  • Leading or supporting projects focused on labour law changes, compliance automation, and digital recordkeeping.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for simplification and standardization in compliance processes.

Requirements:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Human Resources, Labour Law, or related field.
  • Additional certification in labour law or statutory compliance is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in HR compliance, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Hands-on experience managing compliance audits, inspections, and liaising with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong knowledge of central and state labour laws and statutory regulations.
  • Familiarity with sector-specific compliance (IRDAI, RBI, SEBI).
  • Ability to manage multi-state compliance complexity.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and audit readiness.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using compliance tracking tools, HRMS, and MS Office.
