Job Title: Environmental Microbiologist Specialist

  • We are seeking a skilled microbiologist to develop new environmental sample collection, processing, and testing methods.
  • The ideal candidate will process environmental samples, including water, wastewater, soil, sediment, biosolids, and filter samples.
  • Responsibilities include testing for viral, bacterial, and parasitic pathogens, toxins, microbial indicators of fecal contamination, and water quality parameters.
  • The successful candidate will conduct laboratory procedures and processes related to diagnosis of waterborne and environmentally acquired disease.
  • This role involves developing and testing electronic laboratory subtyping surveillance systems and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing new environmental sample collection, processing, and testing methods
  • Processing environmental samples, including water, wastewater, soil, sediment, biosolids, and filter samples
  • Testing for viral, bacterial, and parasitic pathogens, toxins, microbial indicators of fecal contamination, and water quality parameters
  • Conducting laboratory procedures and processes related to diagnosis of waterborne and environmentally acquired disease
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Microbiology or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental microbiology
  • Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
