Job Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Back End Developer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building efficient back-end systems using Node/TypeScript, Postgres, and SQS. Your primary focus will be on developing REST APIs from OpenAPI specs and writing SQS workers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building REST APIs from OpenAPI specs for authentication, Plaid link/exchange, webhook, transactions list/patch, insights refresh/list.
  • Writing SQS workers for ingestion — Plaid cursor sync, idempotent upserts to Postgres, raw payloads to S3.
  • Designing and evolving Postgres schemas/migrations; implementing efficient queries, cursor pagination, and Rediscaching for hot reads.
  • Enforcing input validation (AJV/Zod), structured logs (pino), and distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry).
  • Adding tests (unit/integration), docs (Postman/OpenAPI examples), and runbooks (queue replay, webhook replay).
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have the following skills and qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience building Node/TypeScript backends with Postgres and a queue (SQS/Rabbit/etc.).
  • Proven experience with secure webhooks (signature/HMAC verification) and third-party APIs.
  • Strong grasp of idempotency, retries/backoff, cursor pagination, error design, and API performance.
  • Comfortable with Docker, GitHub Actions, and observability basics (logs/metrics/traces).
