Position Overview

Teach For India is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Strategy and Impact team, driving the organization's long-term vision and strategic direction. As the Director, Strategy & Impact, you will design and implement key projects, interact with internal and external stakeholders, and advise the CEO and Senior Leadership team on long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement long-term vision for the Strategy and Impact Team, including roadmap and key projects.
  • Anchor key projects across three areas of work: medium-to-long term organisational strategy, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), and internal consulting projects.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to surface key organisational and industry trends and advise the CEO and Senior Leadership team on long-term strategy.
  • Train team members on skills such as problem definition, structuring and creating solution frameworks, strong analytical skills, slide making/reporting, project management; nurture strong team culture and coach team members for growth opportunities.
  • Support Teach For India Alumni and other external organizations with matters related to impact, strategy and monitoring.

As a People Manager

  • Build a robust pipeline of talent to lead the organization.
  • Manage and coach Directors in the cluster to ambitious outcomes.
  • Drive engagement, growth, and retention of team members.
  • Engineer and oversee a monitoring and evaluation system, coupled with strategic direction, to guide our abilities to continuously improve.

As a member of the Leadership team

  • Provide feedback on organisational decision making and long-term strategy as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Drive internal alignment and support for Teach For India's core Programs.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication.
  • Support with key organisational areas such as Fundraising, Movement Building, Alumni Engagement.
  • Over time, support Teach For India's Alumni and other external organisations in their journey to our vision with organisational insights.

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • 6-10 years of professional experience as a management consultant or as a corporate strategy/operations improvement professional in a complex organisational setting.
  • Exposure to short and medium strategic planning exercises - either as a lead or as a key member of the driving team.
  • Experience in the areas of Monitoring & Evaluation, impact assessment, data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with having worked with CXOs / senior management stakeholders.
  • Experience with stakeholder management in complex settings (e.g. negotiations, client servicing, consulting, fundraising, etc).
  • Structured problem-solving at a level of proficiency required (as a project manager or a level higher) in top consulting firms.
  • Experience of having built and managed a small but high functioning team(s) to drive outcomes.
