Job Description:

AWS Lead Data Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing software code to drive business outcomes.

This is a challenging position that requires expertise in developing scalable applications and platforms using AWS Cloud Data Platform.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for prioritizing across multiple tasks, managing time effectively, and providing production support.

The team player should have excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collecting requirements, designing, developing, and testing software code.
  • Fixing bugs and providing production support.
  • Prioritizing across multiple tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Learning new technologies outside primary skills.
  • Developing solutions to challenging problems.

Technical Skills Requirements

The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience with Python.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with SQL.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with AWS Cloud Data Platform.

AWS Services Experience

  • ECS, EKS, ECR, S3, EC2, VPC, Route 53, Lambda, API Gateway, AWS Glue, Event Bridge, Cloud Watch, IAM, RDS, Back up Services, Systems Manager.

Desirable Skills

  • 2+ years of experience with Docker containers.
  • Implementation and management of cloud infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform scripting).
  • Participating in business process analysis, use case creation, and requirements definition.
  • Familiarity with writing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and creating deployment automations.
  • Designing, prototyping, developing, and unit testing solutions for projects and maintenance and enhancement releases.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, system interface diagrams, unit testing scenarios, and system support documentation.

Requirements

  • Follow best practices and standards to ensure technical compliance.
  • Adhere to high-quality software development lifecycle (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Provide root cause analysis to resolve complex issues as part of support.
  • Demonstrate accountability by contributing to the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Participate in projects as assigned.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in BioTech/Pharmaceutical industries desirable though not required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills, and people interactions within their own team or department at the operational level.
  • Experience with Lucid chart-like tools to diagram designs.
  • Work with AWS and Solution Architect's to get the designs approved before starting development.
  • Familiarity with database design concepts, API design concepts, intermediary SQL programming.
  • Implementation of CI/CD pipeline experience as a good-to-have skill.
  • AWS Certification is a plus.
