Backend Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will design, build, and scale our applications using modern Java and Spring Boot.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual who wants to work on complex software systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and take ownership of features from concept to completion.

Below are the main responsibilities of this role:

  • Design and Implement Scalable Backend Services: Develop robust REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Data-Driven Development: Optimize and manage MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, focusing on performance, schema design, and query tuning.
  • Architect for Reliability: Build asynchronous, event-driven workflows using AWS SQS to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Lead and Mentor Junior Engineers: Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and provide guidance.
  • Take Ownership of Features: Gather requirements, design, implement, deploy, and monitor features end-to-end.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with frontend and product teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in computer science, technical expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development, as well as experience with database management and cloud computing.

To excel in this role, you should have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to own and drive projects from concept to completion, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
