The role of Staff Software Engineer involves utilizing software-based approaches to solve complex data-driven challenges and automate solutions. You will lead efforts aimed at scaling existing data offerings and establishing the technical strategy for equipping engineers and leaders with Data Platform.
Key responsibilities include building a deep understanding of our digital streaming service, using that knowledge, along with engineering, infrastructure, data, and cloud expertise, to optimize and evolve the technical ecosystem.
You will need to be deeply technical and capable of holding your own with other strong peers, with experience in practicing infrastructure-as-code, data streaming pipeline, data lake management, Database, Analytics and Dashboarding.
A successful candidate will make good decisions, exercise accurate judgment when choosing to build new vs extending existing ones, provide guidance on design, coding, and operational best practices, and have a track-record of applying these best practices to software they have worked on.
Additional responsibilities include proposing and proactively seeking to establish best practices where none exist, making high impact decisions driving what and how software is built, analyzing requirements, studying software architectures and designs to make decisions suiting the requirements, mentoring junior Engineers, overseeing their designs, code quality, and integration into a team, and possessing excellent collaboration and diplomacy skills.
Required qualities include naturally inquisitive, critical thinking, proactive problem-solving, and detail-oriented individuals with positive attitudes and open minds, strong organizational skills, ability to act independently and responsibly, self-starters comfortable initiating projects from design to execution with minimal supervision, and team players with relationship-building abilities.
