Highly Reliable Financial Applications System Engineer

About the Role:
This critical system engineer role is pivotal in guaranteeing the stability, scalability, and operational excellence of accounting platforms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering highly reliable financial applications and data services that meet stringent requirements of accuracy, compliance, and availability to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities include ensuring accounting platforms meet defined SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs for performance, reliability, and uptime, as well as building automation for deployments, monitoring, scaling, and self-healing capabilities to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
Additional responsibilities include implementing and maintaining comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging for accounting applications and data pipelines, leading and participating in on-call rotations, performing root cause analysis, and driving improvements to prevent recurrence of production issues.
The ideal candidate will establish and enforce best practices for capacity planning, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and compliance controls in financial systems.
They will also partner with software engineers, data engineers, and Finance/Accounting teams to ensure operational needs are met from development through production.
In addition, they will ensure financial applications and data pipelines meet audit, compliance, and security requirements.
Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's in computer science, engineering, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience), as well as 5-7 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Production Engineering, ideally supporting financial or mission-critical applications.
A strong background in monitoring/observability tools, hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and IaC tools, familiarity with Snowflake, dbt, and financial system integrations from an operational support perspective, and proven ability to manage incident response and conduct blameless postmortems are all essential.
Preferred Skills include SRE, SQL, Snowflake OR Databricks, DevOps OR CICD OR GitHub Actions, Monitoring/Observability tools, Automation, Exposure to FinOps practices for optimizing cloud spend, Familiarity with containers and orchestration, Experience building resilience into data pipelines and ensuring auditability.
