The Associate Director – Programmes is a senior leadership role that plays a critical part in advancing the organisation's programme portfolio.

The incumbent will be responsible for designing, steering and scaling impactful initiatives with emphasis on effective planning, cross-sectoral integration, and outcome-oriented delivery.

  • Programme Planning & Strategy: The successful candidate will support the development of long-term strategies and annual plans for programme themes, identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation to strengthen impact.
  • Programme Management: Overseeing select programme areas, the candidate will ensure timely, high-quality delivery in line with agreed goals, provide guidance to project teams to strengthen operational efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Partnership Development: Engaging with implementing agencies, knowledge partners, and peer organisations, the candidate will strengthen programme outcomes, represent the organisation in external forums as required.
  • Team Support & Development: Providing mentoring support to mid-level team members, the candidate will help them grow into leadership roles, encourage a collaborative culture that values learning and accountability.
  • Monitoring & Learning: Ensuring effective systems for tracking progress, capturing lessons, and adapting strategies, the candidate will support preparation of reports, presentations, and knowledge products.
  • Financial & Compliance Oversight: Contributing inputs to budget planning and monitoring utilisation in assigned programme areas, the candidate will ensure adherence to internal processes and compliance frameworks.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in social sciences, development studies, public policy, or a related discipline.

They should also have at least 12–15 years of relevant experience in programme design, management, or evaluation within the development sector, including experience in leadership roles.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills, ability to develop and manage multi-stakeholder partnerships, excellent communication and analytical abilities.

They will also have the capacity to think strategically and translate plans into results, work effectively in diverse cultural and social contexts.

This is a fixed-term employment opportunity.
