Chief Technology Officer: Innovation and Growth

The University of the People is a tuition-free, online institution that aims to provide higher education to individuals worldwide. We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer who will drive our technology vision, strategy, and roadmap for innovation and growth.

This senior leadership role will be responsible for managing and operating our current application landscape, driving forward a roadmap of modernization and optimization, and establishing strong relationships with our technology vendors.

We welcome candidates who bring creativity, innovation, and expertise in EdTech, cloud computing, AI, data analytics, and cybersecurity. As a leader, you will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive design, development, and implementation of all technology needs.
  • Establish and drive a technology modernization roadmap.
  • Manage a 24/7 technology operation and optimize usage of infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain robust cybersecurity measures.
  • Develop relationships with key leaders on strategic initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Master's degree preferred.
  • 20+ years in senior technology leadership roles.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Education technology.
  • Expertise in agile delivery management preferably through certification (SAFe).
