Principal Engineer – Aviation

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead our airfield civil engineering projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and delivering complex aviation infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on technical expertise and leadership skills.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design process, managing project teams, and ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and delivering airfield civil engineering projects, from feasibility studies to detailed design and construction support
  • Leading and mentoring project teams, including planning workloads and managing multiple technical engineering projects
  • Preparing technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications related to airfield engineering projects
  • Participating in technical design reviews and providing input to ensure that designs meet quality management requirements
  • Coordinating designs with team members, industry associates, and clients, effectively communicating and implementing project briefs and timelines
  • Identifying and managing design risks, issues, and requests for information (RFIs)
  • SUPPORTING Project Managers by undertaking project progress monitoring and contributing to the development of appropriate project controls, including change management, information management, and document control
  • Implementing technical quality requirements, addressing project briefs, and meeting client deadlines
  • Acting as a role model, line manager, and mentor for other staff, championing excellent health and safety in design

Requirements include 10 years of civil infrastructure design experience at airports, knowledge of international airfield design standards such as ICAO and FAA, proficiency in relevant software packages, and Microsoft Office skills. Preferred qualifications include a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, Chartered or Incorporated status, and knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC 4.
