Job Title: Network Assistant

The primary function of this role involves supporting the maintenance and monitoring of the university's network infrastructure. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, system checks, and technical support to ensure seamless internet and intranet services across campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with IT staff to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN WAN networks
  • Maintain documentation for network configurations, maintenance schedules, and technical processes
  • Assist in monitoring network performance and usage to ensure efficient operations
  • Support the installation and maintenance of routers, switches, access points, and other network devices
  • Collaborate with IT staff to provide user support for network-related issues
  • Perform routine checks to ensure uptime and connectivity across university departments
  • Report network issues to senior IT staff and follow up on resolutions

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, IP addressing, subnets, DHCP, DNS, etc.
  • Experience with Cisco or similar networking hardware
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills
