Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the Role

This is a high-ownership position at a fast-paced AI company where you will work alongside YC-backed founders and a seasoned founding engineer to drive projects from design to deployment in a startup environment.

You will be responsible for building and scaling the core backend infrastructure that powers our AI customer service agents, utilizing your deep Python expertise and experience with Django. The ideal candidate will have strong cloud skills, including familiarity with AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, and Docker.

The Senior Backend Software Engineer will be part of a tight-knit team, collaborating directly with founders and the founding engineer to influence architecture and direction. This role offers direct influence over technical architecture and core infra decisions, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking a high-ownership position in a rapidly growing AI company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and scale the core backend infrastructure using Python (Django experience highly valued)
  • Architect backend services and infrastructure for massive enterprise-grade scale

  • Collaborate directly with founders and the founding engineer to shape architecture and direction
Requirements
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with deep Python expertise (Django a significant plus)
  • Strong cloud skills (AWS or GCP), with familiarity in Kubernetes/Docker
  • Proven track record of building and scaling infrastructure in production
  • Prior startup experience or evidence of end-to-end ownership (founder, early team member, or shipped independent projects)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional foundation
