Job Role:

The Chief Mechanical Engineering Director plays a pivotal role in designing and overseeing the production of mechanical building services for railway stations and other railway buildings.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing mechanical systems at railway stations throughout all design stages, from concept to detailed design.
  • Developing HVAC designs, stair pressurization calculations, heat load calculations, and reviewing and checking HVAC designs.
  • Preparing user requirements, technical specifications, design specifications, and commissioning plans.
  • Providing technical guidance in planning and executing assigned projects.
  • Supervising and verifying the work performed by designers/modelers to meet project requirements.
  • Collaborating with the UK lead office to estimate budget and time associated with projects within the area of expertise.
  • Ensuring compatibility of the mechanical discipline with other disciplines involved in projects.
  • Cultivating a healthy and motivating work environment and atmosphere.
  • Establishing a well-designed and motivating evaluation program.
  • Responsible for overseeing all activities within a team, managing employee development, employee appraisal, and staff development etc.
  • Identifying team goals, evaluating team progress, and resolving conflicts.

Qualifications/Technical Experience:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical/Thermal engineering.
  • 12-18 years' experience working with MEP - Mechanical design.
  • Qualifications meeting requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
  • Proven experience in HVAC design of Railway Station Building Services with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.
  • Carrying out heat load calculations, duct & pipe sizing, and pressure drop calculations.
  • Carrying out HVAC Equipment selection such as Chillers, AHU, FCU, boiler, fans, pumps etc.
  • Carrying out preparation of technical submittals.
  • Maintaining knowledge on software's like AutoCAD, MEP Revit, MicroStation & other drafting software's.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential.
  • Experience of associated discipline software (HAP, Hevacomp, IES etc.)
  • Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.

  • Implementing delivery and quality measurement processes.
  • Promoting technical excellence in all projects.
  • Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.
  • Experience of contributing to the mechanical design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through early stages of lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and originality.
  • Flexible approach to work.

Desired Skills:

  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential.
  • Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
