About this role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic research team in the development of novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and devices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a closely related field. They will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and optimizing synthetic routes for small molecule preparation
  • Tracking SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules
  • Purification and structural characterization of compounds
  • Troubleshooting synthetic problems and optimizing reaction conditions
  • Mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues
  • Maintaining accurate lab records and contributing to technical reports
  • Collaboration with analytical teams as needed

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field
  • PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry
  • Postdoc in organic chemistry / Medicinal chemistry (Optional)
  • 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry

Technical Skills

  • Skill in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation
  • Proficiency in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others)
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols
  • Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder)
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications
