About the Role

The selected individual will lead and manage the full lifecycle of the Global Software Asset Management (SAM) program for Orange Business Services. Responsibilities include overseeing software procurement, compliance, optimization, and governance across regions, while driving efficiency and reducing costs. This role involves strategic collaboration with the CTIO and internal teams to expand SAM coverage and support the overall IT asset strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Global SAM Program Leadership:

  • Lead the global strategy and execution of the Software Asset Management (SAM) program, with comprehensive oversight of software and hardware assets within Orange Business Services.
  • Manage the alignment of SAM objectives with business needs and regulatory requirements, ensuring the program supports overall organizational goals.

2. Strategic Expansion of SAM:

  • Expand the SAM program to include complete lifecycle management of both hardware and software assets, focusing on global coverage.
  • Identify and prioritize new software asset opportunities for optimization and cost savings, while ensuring license compliance.

3. Program Management:

  • Animate a global SAM community with representatives from all OB departments, including program managers, analysts, and governance specialists.
  • Define reporting structures and performance objectives to drive program success.
  • Follow up on an action plan to implement SAM in all OB and support the community.

4. Licensing and Compliance Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with software licensing agreements, intellectual property laws, and contractual obligations.
  • Lead software licensing audits, both internal and external, to ensure that Orange Business Services remains in compliance.
  • Implement governance frameworks and policies to manage software licenses, minimize risk, and maintain operational efficiency.

5. Vendor and Contract Management:

  • Negotiate software contracts, renewals, and agreements with key vendors, optimizing terms to meet the needs of the organization while managing risk.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for software vendors globally and maintain strong, strategic vendor relationships.
  • Support the selection and management of SAM tools, ensuring their alignment with the organization's strategic needs.

6. Cost Optimization & Reporting:

  • Lead initiatives to optimize the use of software assets, including identifying areas of over licensing, underutilization, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and regular reporting to senior management on software asset spending, licensing costs, and compliance risks.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to track program performance, cost efficiency, and license optimization metrics.

7. Governance and Risk Management:

  • Establish and enforce SAM governance policies, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations such as SOX, GDPR, and local licensing laws.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies related to software assets, including managing audit risks and responding to audit findings.
  • Ensure the SAM program adheres to Orange Business Services' global risk management and compliance requirements.

8. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including CTIO, procurement, legal, and finance teams, to ensure successful execution of the SAM program.
  • Draft and implement communication plans to raise awareness about SAM policies, processes, and benefits within the organization. Regularly update senior leadership on SAM activities, progress, and challenges, including presenting recommendations for improvements.

9. Program Management & Process Improvement:

  • Manage and oversee all SAM-related projects from discovery sessions to final implementation, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve SAM processes, tools, and technologies to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Identify and manage any global or regional process variations to ensure consistent, compliant, and effective SAM practices across all Orange Business Services locations.

10. Tool Implementation and Optimization:

  • Lead the implementation of SAM tools globally, ensuring they provide comprehensive visibility of all software assets across the business. Work with the SAM team to improve and refine the capabilities of these tools for better asset tracking, license management, and cost analysis.

About You

  • 15-20 years of experience in IT ecosystem both from the Service and Captive origin setup point of view, including leadership roles within large global organizations.
  • Strong experience in contract and vendor management, particularly with major software vendors.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost optimization & compliance.
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities in a complex global organization.
  • Strong communication skills with experience in presenting to senior management.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations (SOX, GDPR, etc.) and industry best practices for software asset management.
