Product Development Manager

The role involves developing new products and optimizing existing formulations for regulated markets. This includes solid and liquid dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, solutions, suspensions, pellets, and MUPS.

This position requires strong leadership skills to manage projects, define activities and timelines, and ensure timely completion. The role also involves leading the execution of new formulations by investigating API characteristics and compatibility with other ingredients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Understand project scope, define activities and timelines, and ensure timely completion.
  • Formulation Development: Investigate API characteristics and compatibility with other ingredients, perform required testing, and conduct scale-up studies.
  • Resource Planning: Identify resource requirements for projects, including materials, manpower, and machine change parts.
  • R&D Planning: Develop R&D plans and experimental designs using QBD principles for all new product development projects and processes.
  • Laboratory Management: Plan and coordinate lab scale-ups and pilot BE batches while adhering to lab GMP systems and practices.
  • Documentation: Review lab experiment notebooks and prepare technology transfer documents.
  • Tech Transfer: Liaise with technology transfer teams and production teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
  • Process Optimization: Investigate API characteristics and finished products to optimize existing product performance.
  • Stability Protocols: Monitor stability studies and evaluate results to advance product development.
  • Communication: Liaise with various departments to ensure timely project completion.
  • Training: Provide training to subordinates, technicians, and housekeeping personnel on equipment, instruments, and systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in departmental audits and ensure compliance with recommendations.

Qualifications & Pre-Requisites:

  • Masters in pharmacy (pharmaceutics)
  • Formulation development experience in solid and liquid oral; preferred experience in pellets projects.
