Job Opportunity: Fabric Optimization Specialist

This role involves establishing direct partnerships with suppliers, focusing on new materials to simplify production processes, reduce costs, and enhance quality for large-scale retailers.

The successful candidate will provide a development toolkit to the design team while driving Raw Material strategy, implementation, and execution for own brand product ranges.

Main Responsibilities
  • Raw Materials Strategy:
  • Create a comprehensive Raw Material strategy that aligns with business goals, focusing on cost reduction, lead time improvement, and quality benefits.
  • Sourcing and Procurement:
  • Source and negotiate Raw Materials with suppliers, ensuring quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Design Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop a deeper understanding of fabric trends and requirements, translating this knowledge into commercial success for volume retailers.
  • Supply Chain Optimization:
  • Analyze and optimize the supply chain to ensure efficiency, reducing complexity and driving cost savings.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Work closely with the Quality Team to establish and implement quality standards for all sourced fabrics, ensuring they meet technical performance requirements.
  • Talent Development:
  • Develop and coach team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in fabric optimization, supporting career growth within the organization.
Requirements
  • Qualifications:
  • FORMAL QUALIFICATION IN TEXTILE ENGINEER/TEXTILE TECHNOLOGIST or equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • Prior experience in a Textile/Raw Material/Fabric role with accountability in medium-large volume retail businesses with complex options.
  • Skill Set:
  • Expertise in the Raw Material supply chain, cut & sew, woven, and denim fabrications; supplier sourcing and relationship management; direction of fabric application into end-use product ranges.
