Key Responsibilities:
  • Diligently review mortgage loan files, including income, assets, credit, and collateral
  • Utilize client loan operating systems for accurate data entry
  • Apply underwriting guidelines, leveraging Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS) or manual guidelines as necessary
  • Evaluate and ensure overall loan documents are accurate, complete, and compliant
  • Identify and address red flags or alerts with precision
  • Render loan decisions and condition files accordingly
  • Review and approve conditions for compliance and completion of loan files
  • Foster exceptional customer service for internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain current knowledge of client and investor requirements
  • Resolve pre- and post-closing issues related to underwriting
  • Assist Processors/Loan Officers in understanding underwriting decisions and conditions
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience in conventional mortgage loan underwriting
  • Strong expertise in income calculations, tax returns, reading credit reports, and identifying red flags
  • Fundamental knowledge of appraisal and ability to recognize red flags and ineligible properties
  • In-depth understanding of GSE underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting engines (DU/LP)
  • Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, production-oriented environment
  • Willingness to collaborate as part of a team
  • Proficiency in working with multiple systems in a paperless environment
  • Adaptability to work in a secure environment
  • NMLS-MLO Licensure preferred
