GIS Business Analyst Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled GIS Business Analyst to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead meetings with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for GIS-related projects.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making using GIS tools and techniques.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to facilitate communication and ensure project deliverables meet business needs.
  • Assist in designing and developing GIS solutions by translating business requirements into functional specifications and use cases.
  • Conduct regular meetings and workshops with stakeholders to review project progress and adjust project scope or requirements.
  • Create comprehensive documentation including project plans, business requirement documents, user stories, and reports on project status.
  • Mentor junior business analysts.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in GIS-related projects.
Required Skills:
  • Advanced skills in gathering and eliciting complex business requirements.
  • Proficiency in preparing detailed software requirements specifications, functional requirements specifications, and business requirements documents.
  • Strong experience in facilitating user acceptance testing and guiding users through the testing process.
  • Ability to create persuasive responses to requests for proposal and requests for information.
  • Proficient in conducting technical evaluations of tenders and producing technical documentation.
Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective intra-department communication and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and lead discussions.
  • High attention to detail in documentation and communication.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related technologies.
