Aviation Engineering Leadership Role

The WSP Aviation team is seeking a highly experienced Airfield Engineer to serve as the Principal Engineer within our Indian office, with opportunities to lead the GCC Airfield Engineering Team as it grows and develops. This crucial role will be responsible for delivering airfield civil engineering design and maintenance projects through various stages of design, from feasibility studies to construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts for airfield civil engineering projects.
  • Oversee project delivery while guiding junior team members, including planning and managing multiple technical engineering projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications for airfield engineering projects in the UK and overseas.
  • Contribute to technical design reviews to meet quality management requirements.
  • Participate in the design process and provide technical input throughout.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate designs with team members, industry associates, and clients.
  • Identify and manage design risks, issues, and Request for Information (RFIs).
  • Support Project Managers by monitoring project progress and contributing to project controls.
  • Implement technical quality requirements, address project briefs, and meet deadlines.
  • Serve as a role model, line manager, and mentor for other staff.
  • Promote excellent health and safety in design.
Requirements
  • 10 years of experience in civil infrastructure design at airports.
  • Civil engineering experience working on large, complex airport projects from concept to detailed design and construction support.
  • Experience managing engineering professionals in technical aviation projects.
  • Strong communication skills when interacting with team members, industry associates, and clients.
  • Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Experience with international airfield design standards such as ICAO and FAA.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant airfield engineering design software packages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Status or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC 4.
