Geotechnical Engineer Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading engineering company as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

As a member of our geotechnical engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering geotechnical analyses, designs, and studies for hydropower and pumped storage projects. You will also provide technical support to project managers and lead engineers in the engineering of hydropower plants, particularly related to dams, tunnels, and underground infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise to project teams on geotechnical aspects of hydropower projects
  • Develop preliminary recommendations based on geotechnical field investigation results
  • Process and interpret geotechnical data
  • Perform numerical analyses and design calculations
  • Prepare design documentation, including reports, specifications, and design sketches
  • Conduct site visits for inspections and monitoring of ongoing projects
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A good academic background with an MTech/PhD degree in Rock Mechanics or Geotechnical Engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in hydropower and/or tunnelling industry
  • Ability to apply sound engineering judgment and in-depth knowledge in the design of powerhouse caverns, water/rail/road tunnels, vertical shafts, slope stabilization, and earth & rockfill dams
  • Experience with tunnel design and assessment using NATM and TBM methodologies is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in geotechnical and rock mechanics software such as RS2, RS3, Slide2, Geostudio, Dips, UnWedge, SWedge, RocPlane, RocTopple, etc.
  • Familiarity with national and international standards and codes relevant to geotechnical and rock engineering
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently and make well-informed decisions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients
