Mainframe DB2 Administrator Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled DB2 Mainframe Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize DB2 databases on mainframe environments.

  • Responsibilities include ensuring database availability, performance, security, and support in a high-volume transaction processing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain DB2 databases on IBM mainframe (z/OS) environments.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance and tune for optimal throughput and response times.
  • Object Management: Manage DB2 database objects such as tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and packages.
  • Data Integrity: Perform backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Security Implementation: Implement and maintain database security policies and user access controls.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Support database upgrades, patches, and migration activities. Troubleshoot and resolve DB2-related incidents and performance issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application teams, system programmers, and network teams to ensure smooth database operations.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation related to DB2 database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Capacity Planning: Plan and execute database capacity and growth planning.
  • SQL Optimization: Provide support for SQL query tuning and optimization.
  • Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with corporate IT policies and industry regulations.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a DB2 Administrator on IBM mainframe (z/OS) platform.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of DB2 for z/OS architecture, utilities, and management tools.
  • Skills: Experience with database performance tuning and SQL optimization. Proficient in DB2 backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. Familiarity with security concepts, roles, and permissions in DB2.
  • Certifications: Knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) and mainframe environment. Experience with database upgrades, patching, and migration projects.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Integration: Experience with DB2 Connect and integration with distributed systems.
  • Automation Tools: Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (CLIST, REXX).
  • Performance Tools: Knowledge of SQL performance tuning tools.
  • Security Tools: Certifications such as IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 for z/OS.
