Sports Accessories Buyer and Merchandiser

Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Sports Accessories Buying and Merchandising team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for curating product selections, sourcing innovative accessories, and developing effective merchandising strategies to drive sales growth in the sports and activewear collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end buying process for sports accessories, from initial concept development to final delivery
  • Develop and implement strategic merchandising plans to maximize profitability and minimize inventory risk
  • Identify emerging trends and capitalize on market opportunities through proactive research and analysis
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms
  • Analyze market data and sales performance to inform purchasing decisions and optimize product offerings
  • Collaborate with design teams to develop new products and improve existing ones
  • Manage inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure optimal stock management
  • Ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research to stay ahead of industry trends
  • Lead and mentor the buying and merchandising team to achieve business objectives

Qualifications:

  • NIFT graduate or postgraduate degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in sports/activewear industry, preferably in accessories buying and merchandising
  • Proven track record of success in driving sales growth and improving profitability
  • Strong understanding of domestic and international supplier base
  • Excellent analytical skills, with ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities, with proven track record of securing favorable agreements
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant buying/planning software
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to motivate and inspire team members
