Job Overview:

We are seeking highly skilled professionals to fill the position of a Credit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing loan applications, ensuring high-quality credit decisions, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To undertake comprehensive assessments of loan applications based on established credit policies and guidelines.
  • To conduct income verification, credit checks, property valuation reviews, and lending assessments.
  • To maintain open lines of communication with brokers, lenders, and internal teams to clarify documentation gaps or resolve issues.
  • To provide timely and accurate credit decisions while meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and compliance standards.
  • To ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • To mentor and guide junior staff members, as well as contribute to process improvements.
  • To generate reports on pipeline metrics, SLAs, and quality performance indicators.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field is required.
  • The ideal candidate should possess at least 5 years of underwriting experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years in mortgage lending.
  • Strong knowledge of credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems is essential.
  • Experience working with multiple lenders is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines is crucial.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with various income types, including PAYG, self-employed, rental, and foreign income.
  • Sound knowledge of credit bureaus.
  • Familiarity with verification tools and fraud checks used in the mortgage ecosystem.
