Meat Department Manager

As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our meat department. This includes managing inventory, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the meat department's daily activities, including receiving shipments, rotating stock, and preparing products for display.
  • Ensure that all meats are handled, stored, and displayed in accordance with food safety regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, sales data, and customer feedback.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to customer inquiries, resolving issues, and making recommendations on products.
  • Supervise and train a team of meat department staff, providing guidance on procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Analyze sales trends, customer preferences, and market conditions to inform purchasing decisions and optimize product offerings.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as produce and bakery, to develop menu items and promote cross-selling opportunities.
  • Implement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall shopping experience.

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years' experience in a similar role or as a butcher in a retail or restaurant setting.
  • Culinary school degree or equivalent training required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A strong understanding of food safety regulations and protocols, with the ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
