Purchasing Specialist Role

The successful Purchasing Specialist will play a vital role in our organization by overseeing the procurement of essential materials, equipment, and services. This position is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our mining and processing units.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic procurement plans that align with business objectives and minimize costs.
  • Source, negotiate, and finalize contracts with vendors for equipment, spare parts, explosives, fuel, and other mining-related consumables.
  • Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and logistics costs to achieve cost savings.
  • Collaborate with operations and warehouse teams to ensure accurate inventory planning.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, reliability, pricing, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure all purchases comply with statutory requirements, safety norms, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage contracts with logistics providers for mineral transportation.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Mining Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 7–10 years of procurement experience, with at least 4–5 years in the minerals/mining sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mining equipment, spare parts, raw materials, and international trade regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and contract drafting skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory management, and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with safety, statutory compliance, and sustainability practices in mining.
