Dam Break Analysis Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Dam Break Analysis Specialist to join our team.

  • The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering with post graduate degree in Hydraulic or Hydrology and at least 15 years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the subject matter expert for all tasks related to Dam Break Analysis and Inundation Mapping.
  2. Lead the preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents following international standards.
  3. Provide technical support for the development and finalization of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  4. Facilitate and support stakeholder consultation meetings.
  5. Review and finalize plans presented in Project Support Teams (PSTs).
  6. Design and deliver customized training courses on Dam Break Analysis, Inundation Mapping, and Preparation and implementation of EAPs.
  7. Conduct capacity building programs for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs).
  8. Perform integrated flood routing studies for cascades of reservoirs.
  9. Assist in the finalization of integrated operations of important or cascade reservoirs.
  10. Undertake need-based flood routing studies to determine routed floods for specific reservoirs.
  11. Conduct dam safety inspections and manage related documentation and communication.
  12. Develop and implement training calendars and schedules aligned with the annual DRIP Calendar.
  13. Provide inputs for revision and formulation of guidelines related to dam safety and EAPs.
  14. Contribute data and insights to the National Dam Safety Information System and Management Information System (MIS).
  15. Support the development of in-house expertise at select academic institutions.
  16. Participate in national and international conferences via technical paper submissions and presentations.
  17. Support preparation of Project Rehabilitation Reports (PRRs).
  18. Assist in the finalization and training of the Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance (CS&QA) Manual and Plan.
  19. Deliver Training of Trainers (ToT) for DRIP IAs to enhance their CS&QA capabilities.
  20. Undertake need-based inspections of DRIP dams.
  21. Accompany Central Dam Safety Review Panel (DSRP) teams for special safety issues.
