Observability Engineer Position

We are seeking a skilled Observability engineer to join our team. As an SRE with Observability focus, you will be responsible for exploring complex IT estates of our clients, identifying areas for improvement, and architecting unified observability strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing observability solutions to address gaps in order to reduce organizational mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to recover (MTTR) objectives.
  • Developing API-driven microservices that combine into large and complex platforms.
  • Migrating distributed object storage systems while maintaining high performance.
  • Maintaining automated test suites using continuous integration/continuous deployment tools.
  • Collaborating with software engineering teams on project development.
  • Developing automation processes and tools designed to simplify and robustify services.
  • Participating in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and analysis activities.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in application development, including Linux/Unix development or systems administration.
  • Experience working in collaborative coding environments, such as peer review and continuous integration.
  • Ability to work in distributed remote teams across multiple time zones.
  • Experience in large-scale operations environments.
  • Deep understanding of network performance and security.
  • Configuration management tool expertise, including Puppet, Chef, and SaltStack.
  • Hands-on operational experience in high-volume production service environments, including distributed systems and capacity planning.

Preferred skills include:

  • Object Storage - Minio/S3/etc.
  • Data Collection - OpenTelemetry/Grafana Alloy/etc.
  • Message Bus - Kafka/NSQ/etc.
  • Scaling Databases - Druid/Clickhouse/Cassandra/etc.
  • Relational database technologies at large scale - Timescale/Vitess/Postgres/etc.
  • Scheduling & Orchestration - Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker.
  • Cloud Platforms - AWS/Azure.

Education:

Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
