MEP CAD Technician Job Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) services by creating accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models. This individual will work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams to ensure coordinated, detailed, and compliant documentation that supports efficient project delivery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create Precise Drawings: Produce precise 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models of mechanical, electrical, and public health systems in AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM).
  • Collaborate with Design Teams: Work closely with MEP Engineers and Designers to translate design concepts into coordinated drawings.
  • Evaluate Drawing Compliance: Ensure drawings comply with project requirements, building regulations, industry standards, and company protocols.
  • Support Coordinated Services Drawings: Assist in the development of coordinated services drawings, clash detection, and model updates.
  • Maintain Drawing Registers: Maintain drawing registers, file management systems, and revision control.
  • Support Project Delivery: Support project teams in producing tender, construction, and as-built drawings.
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • CAD Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and Revit MEP/BIM (preferred).
  • MEP Drawing Experience: Experience in preparing MEP drawings and understanding of building services design.
  • Familiarity with British Standards: Familiarity with British Standards, Building Regulations, and industry codes of practice.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Workload Management: Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable Requirements
  • BIM Coordination Tools: Experience with Navisworks, clash detection, or other BIM coordination tools.
