Import Ocean Freight Manager

We are seeking an accomplished Import Ocean Freight Manager to lead and coordinate our import ocean freight operations. The successful candidate will formulate strategic pricing plans, negotiate rates with carriers, and foster strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Import Operations Coordination: Oversee the coordination of import ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation.
  • Pricing Strategies & Negotiations: Develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • Pre-Alerts & Booking Management: Manage pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  • Departmental Coordination: Coordinate with internal departments (sales, documentation, customer service, and finance) to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • SOP Development & Implementation: Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the import operations team – allocate resources, set KPIs, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor departmental P&L, ensure cost control, and prepare regular budgets.
  • New Business Development: Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
  • Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service, promptly resolving issues and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.
  • Reporting & MIS Generation: Generate regular MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.
