Senior Engineer I Role

About this role:

The Senior Engineer I is a pivotal position in our technology team, responsible for leading the development and operation of complex software applications. As a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience, you will leverage your technical expertise to drive innovation and deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives.

  • This includes working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable applications, as well as collaborating with peers to share knowledge and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be counted on as a leader in your technology space, contributing to all areas of development and operations (pre-production to production). You will work closely with a Technology Manager, guiding a team of Engineers through their day-to-day process, and providing a central escalation point for production concerns.

  • As a Senior Engineer I, you will participate in Agile ceremonies, provide mentorship and facilitate engineering training for a team of Engineers, perform and delegate engineering assignments to ensure production readiness is maintained, and conduct research to aid in product troubleshooting and optimization efforts.
  • Additionally, you will contribute to project engineering design and standards verification, perform reliability monitoring and support as needed to ensure products meet guest expectations, and act as an escalation point and participate in on-call support rotations.

Requirements:

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • A completed Bachelor's degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Software Architecture preferred;
  • Overall Experience: 10 + Years;
  • Exceptional technical skills, a keen eye for design, and excellent communication abilities, with the capacity to work autonomously in a fast-paced agile environment;
  • 6+ years of experience with Angular / AngularJS, HTML, CSS, and writing cross-browser compatible code;
  • A solid understanding of AJAX, JavaScript, and the Bootstrap framework (2+ years experience in Bootstrap);
  • 6+ years of experience with RESTful services, familiarity with testing frameworks (basic experience, e.g., Cypress), and hands-on experience implementing complex Angular applications, directives, controllers, and services;
  • Familiarity with Gitlab/Github and working with CI/CD workflows;
  • Ability to learn, understand, and work quickly with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space; and Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, we welcome candidates with additional experience and qualifications, such as:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Software Architecture;
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure;
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools;
  • Familiarity with containerization using Docker;
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture;
  • Participation in open-source projects;
  • Attendance at industry conferences and workshops;
