Job Description

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our team as a senior system administrator with expertise in GitLab. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the current infrastructure to determine the requirements for implementing GitLab.

  • Infrastructure Assessment and Planning: Assess the current infrastructure to ensure seamless integration with existing systems and evaluate its ability to meet the needs of the business.
  • Collaboration and Liaison: Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to understand Enterprise Architecture and Security standards, providing designs and implementations that meet those standards.
  • GitLab Installation and Management: Install, configure, and manage GitLab on servers, leveraging Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code tools to set up required infrastructure.
  • Integration and Security: Integrate GitLab with existing tools and services, configuring security settings and access controls to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • CI/CD Pipelines and Automation: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Azure DevOps, automating mundane tasks and error-prone processes.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members and engineers on using GitLab effectively, assisting with the development of training materials.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot issues with GitLab infrastructure, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Documentation and Best Practices: Develop and maintain documentation for GitLab setup and usage within the enterprise, recommending best practices around Microsoft Azure, GitLab, and ad-hoc Azure DevOps queries.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Provision and orchestrate container workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts, provisioning, configuring, and maintaining AKS clusters following best practices.
  • Security Features and Compliance: Enable advanced security features such as DAST and API Fuzzing, create security and compliance policies on GitLab reflecting departmental policies, and implement Single Sign On authentication and email delivery capabilities.
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup: Configure backups and create disaster recovery plans for the GitLab platform, ensuring business continuity in case of unexpected events.
  • Deployment Pipelines and Monitoring: Implement deployment pipelines with incremental delivery capabilities, set up monitoring and alerting for the GitLab platform, and perform security hardening of the instance based on best practices.
  • Data Retention and Encryption: Configure data retention policies for GitLab, set up encryption of databases and other software artefacts, and create webhooks which perform administrative tasks on the platform.
  • DevOps Initiatives: Contribute and participate in all DevOps initiatives within the organization, setting up the required GitLab Runner infrastructure and ensuring automated scaling is in place.
