Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced software developer to join our team and help us create a cutting-edge geospatial platform.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in building automated data ingestion and processing pipelines, as well as experience with machine learning model training and integration.

They should also be proficient in designing and building low-latency REST APIs, as well as implementing interactive dashboards using React and Mapbox GL JS.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong command of AWS services, including Lambda, S3, API Gateway, and IAM.

They should also be familiar with containerising applications using Docker and have a demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges independently.

A strong communication skill is also essential to articulate technical decisions and collaborate with the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience
  • Deep expertise in either Python-based backend development or React-based frontend development
  • Essential, in-depth experience designing, building, and deploying services on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Thorough understanding of REST principles and proven experience in designing and building APIs from scratch

Qualifications

1. A minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience

2. Deep expertise in either Python-based backend development or React-based frontend development

3. Essential, in-depth experience designing, building, and deploying services on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with a strong command of Lambda, S3, API Gateway, and IAM

4. A thorough understanding of REST principles and proven experience in designing and building APIs from scratch

5. Proficiency in containerising applications using Docker

6. Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex, open-ended technical challenges

7. Strong communication skills to articulate technical decisions and collaborate with the team

8. Experience building complex, interactive mapping and data visualisation services with Mapbox GL JS or similar libraries.

9. Experience with GIS data processing using libraries like GeoPandas and Rasterio, or familiarity with Google Earth Engine.

10. Experience with ML model serving (MLOps) using frameworks like XGBoost and Scikit-learn.

11. Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK or Terraform.

12. Previous experience in an early-stage start-up, demonstrating the ability to build a product from version 0 to 1.
