Virtualization Engineer

The role of a Virtualization Engineer is to oversee the development, implementation and management of virtualized computing environments. In this capacity, one must ensure stability, performance and security of virtualized workloads.

An additional key responsibility is to conduct capacity planning and forecasting for the OpenShift Virtualization platform to ensure scalability and prevent resource exhaustion.

Automation plays a crucial part in efficient task execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing automation solutions for repetitive tasks including configuration changes, VM management, auditing, remediation and integration with ticketing systems.

Achieving Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices is vital to overall platform stability, performance and operational efficiency.

Maintaining VM health, resource usage and performance metrics proactively ensures prompt identification and resolution of issues.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 2+ years focused on Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
  • Proven experience with OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts (Pods, Deployments, Services, Storage Classes, Operators, Custom Resources).
  • Experience with Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace) and logging solutions.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies (e.g., KVM, VMware).
