Ship Performance Specialist

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping us build digital solutions for large Container Ships.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Ship Performance Specialist to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert. You will be responsible for working with our Data Scientists to build digital solutions that improve fuel efficiency and overall vessel performance.

Your day-to-day tasks may include:

  • Analyzing container ship operations data to identify areas for improvement
  • Conceptualizing and building digital twins of large Container vessels
  • Identifying relevant data needed to build Container Ship Digital Twins
  • Guiding Data Scientists on domain-specific inputs for building digital twins
  • Building and guiding the development of digital twin models, including fuel performance curves, vessel hydrodynamic stability, and safety thresholds
  • Modeling the effects of windage, vessel speed, drift, trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, engine condition, waves impact, wind impact, currents impact, and other parameters affecting fuel consumption
  • Deriving parameters like Trim, Metacentric Height, Windage etc from various sources of base data
  • Building tactical solutions for avoiding Parametric and Synchronous rolling, including methods for alerting concerned parties
  • Sharing vessel digital twin models for weather re-routing
  • Developing AI/ML solutions for recommending vessel speed, overconsumption alerts, fouling margin, and more
  • Visualizing vessel digital twins for end-users, if necessary
  • Scanning and recommending process improvements, statutory guidelines, and updates
