As a Freelance PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will have the opportunity to work on a long-term contract basis with our team, providing expertise in database architecture, high availability, and optimization.

This role requires a strong background in PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL (MySQL), and advanced SQL performance tuning. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining databases, as well as performing advanced SQL performance tuning and query optimization.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and a solid understanding of Oracle DBA principles. They will also possess strong problem-solving and communication skills, as well as proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Advanced SQL performance tuning and query optimization
  • Database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control
  • Replication, clustering, and failover solution implementation and monitoring
  • Database security, compliance, integrity, and backup/recovery strategies
  • Collaboration with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database architecture
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database issues, including on-call support for critical systems

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL
  • Strong expertise in Cloud SQL (MySQL) and advanced SQL performance tuning
  • Solid background in Oracle DBA principles
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems for database administration
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
