We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to lead our road safety efforts in India.
About the Role:
- Lead, plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to reduce traffic fatalities and enhance roadway safety across states.
- Work closely with government stakeholders, urban and rural authorities, law enforcement agencies, consultants, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy & Strategy- Develop, implement, and review State Road Safety Policies and Action Plans.
- Advise on alignment of state initiatives with national road safety frameworks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Develop guidelines and standards for safe road infrastructure, signage, and traffic management.
- Evaluate design and safety aspects of new and existing road projects.
- Recommend countermeasures for high-risk areas and conduct road safety audits.
- Analyze crash data, road user patterns, and conduct causal analysis to identify trends and risk factors.
- Maintain and update a road safety database; prepare performance reports and targets for safety indicators.
- Design and deliver capacity building workshops for engineers, planners, drivers, and community groups.
- Develop knowledge-sharing resources and toolkits on road safety best practices.
- Lead awareness campaigns for the public.
- Collaborate with NGOs, schools, and community leaders for safe mobility initiatives.
- Work with police and traffic enforcement teams to strengthen compliance with road safety laws.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of enforcement and engineering interventions.
- Facilitate meetings among diverse government agencies.
- Represent the state at national road safety forums.
- Advocate for the adoption of intelligent traffic management systems.
- Advise on procurement and deployment of digital enforcement tools.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Transportation Planning/Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mobility and/or road safety in India.
- Proven experience in developing successful urban mobility programs.
- Strong understanding of Indian policies, laws, and regulations.
