Lead Well Planning Expert

This role is responsible for leading the design, planning and execution of CBM wells to ensure technical integrity, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute well designs for CBM wells (vertical, deviated, multilateral or cluster) ensuring location selection support, casing, cementing and well trajectory are properly aligned with reservoir and geo-mechanical models.
  • Prepare detailed Basis of Design (BoD), risk registers and contingency plans to ensure fit-for-purpose and cost-optimized completions for CBM production.
  • Collaborate with procurement and service vendors to select equipment and materials that meet engineering standards and operational requirements.
  • Evaluate and apply new CBM-relevant technologies such as slim-hole, underbalanced drilling and horizontal CBM.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure improvement in their services and adherence to safety, contractual, procedural and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
  • Over 10 years of upstream oil and gas experience, with 3+ years specifically in CBM operations.
  • Proven experience in well design and engineering for low-pressure, unconventional gas wells.

Skill Requirements:

  • Proficiency in well design software (Landmark, WellPlan, Compass, StressCheck etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of CBM reservoir behavior and gas production mechanisms.
  • Budgeting and AFE preparation.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
