Job Title:

Data Platform Observability Lead


Job Description:

The role involves setting up and advancing observability, monitoring, and reliability practices across the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDAA) Platforms landscape. The lead is responsible for overseeing incident management processes and post-mortem practices to ensure continuous reliability improvements.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing comprehensive observability frameworks to monitor performance, reliability, and availability of EDAA data platforms and services. This also includes defining and tracking key SLIs, SLOs, and KPIs across critical platform components and data pipelines.

Furthermore, the role entails leading the integration of monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting tools to enable real-time insights and root cause analysis. Collaboration with platform engineering, SRE, and product teams is necessary to enhance observability coverage and automate incident responses.

Other duties include driving the adoption of best practices in telemetry collection, dashboards, and visualization for operational excellence. The role requires providing leadership in tool evaluation and deployment across observability and performance management platforms. Additionally, partnering with security, compliance, and data governance teams is essential to ensure visibility into data usage, lineage, and policy adherence.

Mentorship and coaching engineers and analysts on observability concepts and tools are also part of the job description. This will help build a culture of shared ownership and resilience within the organization.
