Job Description

As a seasoned DMSII Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mainframe databases. This role involves install, configure and administer DMSII databases to ensure optimal performance and availability.

  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
  • Manage sets, subsets and indexes to guarantee efficient data access and reduce query times.
  • Handle database backups, journals and roll-forward recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required to maintain data integrity.
  • Collaborate with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  • Implement and maintain security, audit trails and user access controls to protect sensitive data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT and database reorganization tools.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with batch jobs, JCL equivalents and operational support tasks.
