Mainframe Storage System Engineer

Are you a seasoned expert in Mainframe storage subsystems? Do you have what it takes to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of our storage infrastructure?

We're looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Mainframe Storage System Engineer. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be integral in installing, configuring, and managing Mainframe storage subsystems.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and configure Mainframe storage subsystems, ensuring compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform storage capacity planning and provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor storage performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and end-users, troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • Experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • Knowledge of storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
  • Understanding of storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.
