Oracle EBS DBA Job Description

This role is responsible for supporting the 24/7 operation of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) in a production, stage, and development environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle database administration, including installation, configuration, upgrading, monitoring, cloning, patching, backup, and restore.

  • Perform daily health checks on the production environment to identify performance bottlenecks and resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide regular DBA support using tools like Serena or ServiceNow.
  • Contribute technical expertise to maintain a large, complex production environment.
  • Plan for instance growth requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest versions of Oracle database and EBS architecture, including 19c and 12.2.
  • Understand Oracle security basics and have experience working with ISO and auditing standards.
  • Have expert-level knowledge of RAC, ASM, WebLogic Administration, and experience with routine DBA tasks, including health checks, troubleshooting, and installations.
  • Be proficient in PLSQL and SQL programming languages.
  • Know how to analyze traces, tkprof, and find poorly performing SQL code.
  • Have knowledge of load balancing, PCP, configurators, JVMs, archiving, and purging tools like HP Archiving.
  • Experience with SOA gateway and ekanban knowledge is an asset.
  • Understand oracle database wait events, database, and application parameters.
  • Ability to fine-tune concurrent processing in large EBS environments.
  • Extensive familiarity with OEM Tool.
  • Install, upgrade, patch, and administer EBS applications and databases.
  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard.
  • Knowledge of RMAN backup and restore activities.
  • Understanding of OS parameters and settings, UNIX shell scripting.
  • Perform DB and Application Patch Analysis and Apply Patches.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms like OCI and Azure.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 8-12 years of Oracle experience.
  • Willingness to work in 24/7 shifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in English language, both spoken and written.
