Cell Engineer - Value Optimization

Our company is looking for a highly skilled Cell Engineer to join our Value Optimization team. This role is pivotal in advancing the development and cost-efficiency of lithium-ion cell technology. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and external suppliers to enhance cell performance, design, and manufacturing processes, with a focus on identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze the cost structure of lithium-ion cells and identify areas for cost reduction through performance optimization, design improvements, and materials innovation.
  2. Develop and execute strategies for cell design and redesign to achieve value optimization.
  3. Engage with cell and materials suppliers to foster collaborative relationships and drive innovation.
  4. Work closely with the Value Optimization Group, Cell Engineering Group, Sustainable Materials Group, Advanced Technology Group, and Circular Economy Groups to ensure alignment and integration of efforts.
  5. Conduct comprehensive assessments of cell performance and manufacturing processes to identify optimization opportunities.
  6. Drive the development and implementation of advanced cell manufacturing techniques and application ecosystem improvements.
  7. Stay updated on the latest advancements in cell technology and materials science to incorporate cutting-edge solutions into our development processes.
  8. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings, recommendations, and progress to stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost analysis and value engineering.
  2. In-depth understanding of lithium-ion cell technology, including cell chemistry, design, and manufacturing processes.
  3. Proven experience in cell performance optimization and design improvements.
  4. Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  6. Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies used in cell engineering and cost analysis.
  7. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  8. Minimum of 2-8 years of experience in lithium-ion cell development, manufacturing, or a related field.
  9. Demonstrated experience in cost analysis and value optimization within the battery or energy storage industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with advanced cell manufacturing techniques and materials development.
  2. Familiarity with sustainability practices and the principles of the circular economy in the context of cell development.
  3. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to battery safety and performance.
